چکیده

Polyamines are the natural compound, act as anti-senescent agents, reduce rate of respiration, delay ethylene production, retard colour change, maintain fruit firmness. Show that plays a pivotal role in postharvest life fruits and vegetables. The objective this study was to investigate effect post-harvest application polyamines different concentration on physico-physiological quality parameters papaya during ambient storage (33-36oC). Papaya treated with i.e., T2-0.50mM Spermine, T3- 1.0mM Spermine,T4- 1.5mM Spermine,T5- 0.50 mMSpermidine, T6- 1 mM Spermidine,T7- Spermidine,T8- 2 Putrescine,T9- 3 Putrescine,T10- 4 Putrescine T1-Control. Among treatments, (T10) recorded significantly minimum physiological loss weight, respiration colourvalues (L*, a*, b*) peel pulp, disease index maximum firmness, shelf compared control (T1). Hence it is confirmed from at 4mM found be effective delaying physico-chemical process cv. Red Lady.

Physico-chemical characteristics of papaya (Carica papaya L.) seed oil of the Hong Kong/Sekaki variety.

A study was carried out to determine the physicochemical characteristics of the oil derived from papaya seeds of the Hong Kong/Sekaki variety. Proximate analysis showed that seeds of the Hong Kong/Sekaki variety contained considerable amount of oil (27.0%). The iodine value, saponification value, unsaponifiable matter and free fatty acid contents of freshly extracted papaya seed oil were 76.9 g...

The Medicinal Properties of the Papaya, Carica papaya L

Quite surprisingly, historians know little about Hippocrates, the physician often referred to as "the father of medicine". However, we do know that he was a strong advocate of the use of medicinal plants to prevent and cure diseases. He recorded between three hundred and four hundred plant remedies in his writing and during the middle ages herbal remedies were passed down from generation to gen...

Effect of Pectinase on the Physico-Chemical Properties of Juice from Pawpaw (Carica papaya) Fruits

A procedure for the preparation of clarified Pawpaw Juice was developed. About 750ml Pawpaw pulp was measured into 2 measuring cylinders A & B of capacity 1 litre heated to 40C, cooled to 20C. 30mls pectinase was added into cylinder A, while 30mls distilled water was added into cylinder B. Enzyme treated sample (A) was allowed to digest for 5hours after which it was heated to 90C for 15 minutes...

Shrinkage of papaya (Carica papaya L.) during convective drying: Influence of glass transition phenomenon

The aim of the present work was to study the shrinkage phenomenon during convective drying of papaya cubes and relate its extension with glass transition. A convective tray dryer was used for the experiments, which were carried out at air temperatures of 40 and 70°C and air velocity of 1.0m/s. The shrinkage behaviour was accomplished by total area and apparent volume alterations along drying. S...

Callus induction in papaya (Carica papaya L.) and synseed production for low temperature storage and cryopreservation

The midto long-term preservation of papaya (Carica papaya L.) would allow for the safeguarding of important germplasm. In this study, soft friable callus (SFC) and hard callus (HC) were induced from the first two true leaves of 10-day-old seedlings containing a midrib derived from the germinated seed of two cultivars (‘Rainbow’ and ‘Sunrise Solo’). Following germination on a Murashige and Skoog...
